Artful Habitats
Our wild bees are indeed true artists of pollination. This has fascinated us for many years, as you know. How wonderful it is to share that joy with like-minded people. In our huge bee community, we always find new synergies. This year, in collaboration with Artstübli Basel and the Swiss artist Patrizia Stalder, the foundation for an artful habitat has been created:
The outer walls of a total of 168 of our BeeHome Observers have served as canvases for two inspiring artworks.
Now, these unique wild bee houses in a limited art edition not only provide habitat but also shine as art objects. Each of the 168 BeeHomes is a hand-painted unique piece that perfectly embodies the symbiosis of art and nature. The outer walls of each BeeHome are randomly assembled. A unique nesting aid that offers a perfect retreat for wild bees in your home and simultaneously makes an aesthetic statement.
Information on Paint & Varnish for the Art Edition
For the limited art edition, special paints were selected that are free of fungicide/biocide and contain no microplastics. A varnish that is free of chemical substances was also used. Wild bees avoid treated varnish due to its smell, and the brood can be killed by toxins. To ensure that the BeeHome remains the perfect nesting aid for wild bees, we have, of course, carefully selected the paints and varnish together with our biologists.
