With every BeeHome, you receive a voucher for the cocoons of the red mason bee (Osmia bicornis) – your personal mason bee cocoons for an exciting introduction to the world of wild bees. If you have sent in the inner box of your BeeHome for wild bee care, you will also receive a voucher for red mason bee cocoons.
From mid-February to mid-May, you can conveniently order at least 30 cocoons online via MyBeeHome. Simply enter your voucher code during the order process. If you have a voucher from the wild bee care service, it will be automatically stored for you on MyBeeHome. Only registration or login with your email address is required for the order.
During the ordering process, you can specify your delivery address and select a desired shipping date. This way, we ensure that you receive your wild bee cocoons a few days after shipping and can place them in your BeeHome in good time. Shipping is secure and convenient via letter post (A-Post).

Additionally, from January to the end of March, we offer the cocoons of the early-flying European horned mason bee (Osmia cornuta).
Please note: Vouchers for mason bee cocoons cannot be applied to this species. Perfect for anyone who wants to start their wild bee adventure even earlier!
If you have recently purchased your BeeHome or sent your inner box in for wild bee care in autumn, you are entitled to red mason bee cocoons.
Additionally, you can easily order more red mason bee cocoons via MyBeeHome – available from mid-February.
When you receive new cocoons, replace the old cardboard tube with the new tube containing mason bee cocoons. If there is an overlap, you can also attach a tube below or to the side of the BeeHome with adhesive tape. Mara demonstrates how this works in this video.
Important note: There may still be wild bees in the old cardboard tube. Please place it in a dry, shady outdoor location, preferably near your BeeHome. Make sure it is not in direct sunlight and not under the roof of your BeeHome, as it can get too hot there.
No, don't worry! Especially at the beginning of the season, there can still be frosty nights or even snowy days. The mason bee cocoons can be placed directly in their intended spot in the BeeHome immediately after receipt.
There, the mason bees rest well-protected in their cocoons. They only hatch when the temperature and weather conditions are optimal for them. This timing is controlled by their internal clock and external conditions – just as they know it from nature. It can therefore take up to 30 days until the first mason bees are visible.
Even several cold days or frosty nights are no problem for mason bees that have already hatched: they retreat into their nesting tubes to sleep. Even temperatures well below 0 °C cause no damage.
To ensure that the mason bees can immediately refuel after hatching, it is advisable to provide early-flowering plants nearby. Grape hyacinths, for example, are particularly popular, but other early bloomers also offer a valuable food source.
In short: snow and frost are not a risk – quite the opposite. The mason bees are simply following the natural course they have always known.

Giving a BeeHome as a gift is very easy and a great idea for more nature in the garden or on the balcony. You can simply order it online and directly specify the recipient's address as the delivery address.
The whole process happens in two steps: First, the BeeHome arrives as a package so that the "hotel" can be unpacked and hung up at leisure. The package then contains a voucher for the mason bee cocoons. The recipient can easily redeem this code on our website and decide for themselves when the mason bee cocoons should be delivered. This way, the little guests arrive exactly when someone is home to greet them.
If you give the BeeHome as a gift outside the season (i.e., between June and January), you are essentially gifting anticipation for the next year. The voucher can then simply be redeemed in the coming spring. So that the starting signal is not missed, it is worthwhile for the recipient to subscribe to our newsletter – we will then notify them in good time when the bees are ready for check-in.
