About Wildbiene + Partner

We reconnect people with nature. Because we believe that true change only happens when people feel reconnected to nature.

Our Vision: A Buzzing World for Everyone

In a world where insect populations are dwindling, Wildbiene + Partner has been bringing more nature into everyday life for over 10 years. With tangible concepts, we enable people and businesses to experience nature up close and actively contribute to biodiversity – directly in gardens, on balconies, and in large-scale habitats.

Our goal is to create a tangible experience that connects every individual with improved biodiversity. We strive for a world where nature-based measures lead to measurable, concrete improvements in biodiversity. This way, everyone can experience and quantify the blooming vitality of nature firsthand.

Our Impact

We empower people and companies to measurably promote and experience biodiversity by sharing our passion for wild bees and nature and creating exciting real and digital nature experiences.

Creating habitats

While we started our Beegnette initiative with 1,500 square meters in Switzerland in 2023, thanks to your support, we were able to create 14,000 square meters of species-rich wildflower areas in 2024 – 8,700 m2 in Switzerland and 5,300 m2 in Germany.

MyBeeHome App (Beta)

With MyBeeHome, we make citizen science measurable: The app analyzes photos of nest closures to identify which wild bee species are nesting in the BeeHome, shows you the nesting success over time – and provides personalized tips on how to better adapt your environment to the needs of pollinating insects.

Small Pollinators with a Big Impact

Over 2.5 million wild bees from BeeHomes were in action in 2024, pollinating more than 3.25 billion blossoms. Each individual blossom is a small marvel of nature – and wild bees are the tireless helpers who make this marvel possible.

Wild bee monitoring

In April 2024, a monitoring device for the digital recording of wild bee diversity was tested for the first time. The aim is to make biodiversity measurable and to scientifically monitor the success of created habitats. This creates a new opportunity to transparently collect environmental data and actively promote biodiversity.

Education projects

As part of the “Bees for Education” project, schools received a BeeHome Observer to experience wild bees up close. A total of260 BeeHome Observershave already been delivered to245 educational institutionsin Switzerland and Germany – enabling nature experience and pollinator knowledge right outside the classroom window.

Large-scale wild bee habitats

Through the "Beegnette" initiative, with your support, large-scale habitats for wild bees are being created. By establishing and monitoring new habitats, we can jointly promote biodiversity and its scientific measurability.

Our Partners

Wildbiene + Partner – a mission with history!

Our journey began in 2012 at ETH Zurich, where Dr. Claudio Sedivy was researching wild bees. Together with Tom Strobl, our co-founder and R&D pioneer, they developed a concept that combines science, design, and impact – and founded the ETH spin-off Wildbiene + Partner.

Our milestones:

  • 2012: Start of wild bee research at ETH Zurich
  • 2013: Foundation of Wildbiene + Partner, ImpactHub Fellowship for a Green Economy (1st place)
  • 2014: Swiss Sustainability Award (2nd place)
  • 2015: Launch of our wild bee care program
  • 2017: Training of first AI models for nest detection
  • 2018: Innosuisse Scale-up Label
  • 2021: 100,000th BeeHome sold
  • 2025: Launch of the beta version of the MyBeeHome app

What began as an idea has become a movement with over 170,000 people who are already joining us in Switzerland and Germany.

Tom Strobl, co-founder of Wildbiene + Partner

Tom Strobl, co-founder of Wildbiene + Partner, is a biologist and a passionate advocate for nature. His interest in plant-insect interaction developed during his master's degree studies at the Botanical Garden in Zurich. Together with a fellow student, he founded the start-up Wildbiene + Partner in response to the dramatic decline in insect populations.

Tom is convinced that we only protect what we know. That's why he is committed to introducing people to the fascinating world of wild bees and to understanding balconies and gardens as valuable habitats for our small superheroes. With concepts like BeeHome and the "Beegnette" initiative, he shows how easy it is to make a difference with small actions and ensure that it will still be buzzing around us in 20 years.
