Our vision: A buzzing world for all!
Pollinating insects, including numerous wild bee species, play a key role in nature and in ensuring our food supply. Wildbiene + Partner is a Swiss-based company that has been a pioneer in biodiversity promotion and wild bee protection for 10 years. Our goal is to empower people and companies to promote biodiversity and restore ecological infrastructure by sharing our passion for wild bees and creating exciting real and digital experiences with nature.
We see our main tasks as follows:
- to inspire a broad public about the topic of wild bees in an inspiring way through well-founded educational work and to enable an uncomplicated introduction with our high-quality BeeHome wild bee houses
- to point out positively and with confidence the threatened diversity of a fragile ecosystem and to provide guidance for everyone
- to contribute to counteracting the loss of ecosystems with a measurable commitment by creating wild bee habitats and specifically enhancing ecological areas, in order to stop the further decline of bee and insect populations
- to preserve and promote biodiverse habitats through targeted measures and the use of modern technologies and to make progress documentable
We at Wildbiene + Partner, as well as our German company BeeHome/Pollinature, are convinced that together with our BeeHome community, we can make a small but important contribution to a better society. We are proud of this, and everyone who participates can be too.
Species protection, nesting aids and genetic diversity
Wild bee experts and our community appreciate and acknowledge the broad work of Wildbiene + Partner, or BeeHome/Pollinature. Committed private individuals contribute to wild bees gaining more habitats. The Red Mason Bee (Osmia bicornis) and the Horned Mason Bee (Osmia cornuta), which primarily nest in the BeeHome, are carefully freed from possible parasites by trained employees during their hibernation in autumn. This is because mason bees, despite their commonness, need promotion, and species protection should not only promote rare species, but also actively support the more common ones. The various BeeHomes offer suitable nesting places for over a dozen other wild bee species, some of which are very rare. Nesting boxes provided by humans are just as valuable for these wild animals as original nesting opportunities.
Critiques
Behind our small company is a competent and dedicated team that cares deeply about wild bees and biodiversity. Time and again, especially on social media, we are confronted with very one-sided, sometimes false, and often aggressively harsh criticism from individuals, sometimes representing initiatives or interest groups.
We have nothing against constructive criticism, but polemics certainly annoy us. Some of the statements lack rational and scientific foundations. Critics elevate themselves above the responsible authorities, who regularly subject us to comprehensive scrutiny regarding the breeding, handling, and shipping of our wild bees. This destructive attitude seems to us to be unproductive and unsettles people who are interested in our nesting aids and want to get involved. An endless battle of arguments at a "know-it-all" level, as experience shows, only costs all parties a lot of time, and it is far from our intention to fight against people and organizations who are also committed to a better world with more biodiversity.
Nevertheless, we would like to address a few points of criticism in more detail here to provide a broad and transparent picture of our work.
