Bird Protection BeeSafe

The BeeSafe wind chime effectively protects your BeeHome and the nests of your mason bees from birds by deterring them through movement and light reflections. While birds give the wind chime a wide berth, the wild bees are not bothered by it. They continue to fly to their nesting tubes and simply find a way around the silent wind chime. In fact, wild bees often prefer such a slightly more circuitous "approach path" as it offers their nests additional protection from natural predators.

If you have a BeeHome Pro or BeeHome Diversity, the reflection from a centrally placed bird deterrent should be sufficient. For optimal protection of each individual inner box, you can attach one bird deterrent per inner box.

Attaching the BeeSafe bird deterrent

1. Attach the wind chime to the large spring ring of the hanging device.
2. Insert the hanging rod into a gap between the topmost nesting tubes in the center of the inner box. Make sure the hanging rod is fully inserted.
3. Carefully bend the individual slats apart by hand. Start from the inside and ensure that the distances are roughly equal. This creates a uniform relief that, in combination with wind and light, produces the desired 3D effects.
