Wild Bee Nesting Aids with the 'Europa Minigärtner'
On July 14, a special workshop took place on the picturesque Mainau Island, where Sarina from our team guided children from the non-profit program Europa Minigärtner. The focus was on building nesting aids for wild bees – an exciting and educational event that immersed the young participants in the world of nature conservation.
Practical learning for little gardeners
The non-profit program of Europa Minigärtner, which spans 1 or 2 years for individual groups, also culminated this year in a joint graduation ceremony on Mainau Island. Here, the children were able to present their acquired knowledge and skills. With combined efforts, the Mini Garden groups created a hanging garden from brightly painted pallets, as well as planted rubber boots and pots. The blooming artwork was crowned by wild bee hotels, which were made in a practical workshop by 22 of the more than 170 participating children. Our BeeManager, Sarina, gave the Mini Gardeners an introduction to the world of wild bees and built these nesting aids together with them.
An unforgettable experience
The workshop was a great success. The children enthusiastically participated and learned how they can contribute to promoting biodiversity with simple means. The nesting aids they built will offer wild bees a new home and at the same time instill in the children a sense of responsibility and connection with nature.
