What is Hapimag?
Hapimag is a vacation apartment sharing community based on a participatory membership model. Its more than 100,000 shareholders and members are both owners and users of the 56 vacation resorts with a total of around 5,300 vacation apartments in popular destinations across Europe. "Our community has grown into a real family over the past decades. The identification of our shareholders and members with the company is very strong," says Luc Theler, Head of Business Development & Sustainability at Hapimag.
Sustainability at Hapimag
The principle of shared ownership and use of Hapimag resorts by members promotes the values of sharing and caring, making the business model inherently more sustainable and long-term. Luc Theler adds: "We do not strive for profit maximization, but rather want to offer our members the best possible holiday experience. Our profits are reinvested in the renovation and maintenance of our facilities. What company can claim to have such a sustainable business foundation? That makes us really proud."
Collaboration with Wildbiene + Partner: BeeHomes in Hapimag Resorts
In 2022, Hapimag entered into an extensive partnership with Wildbiene + Partner. They equipped their resorts in Europe with BeeHomes to provide a home for wild bees and enrich local biodiversity.
The resort employees also demonstrated what lived sustainability means. In many places, insect-friendly gardens were created around the BeeHomes, thus providing entirely new and flourishing habitats for the resort's mason bees.
"With the BeeHomes, we want to show our guests that wild bees can enrich local biodiversity both in the countryside and in cities," explains the motivation behind this initiative.
The guests did not fail to notice this motivation either. "As expected, our guests also reacted very positively to our initiative. At the end of the day, they share the same corporate values with us, which are a result of the core of our sustainable and long-term business idea."
In summary, Hapimag shows that sustainability and responsibility are not only of great benefit to the environment but also to the company and its members. Luc Theler is also convinced of this: "It's actually quite simple. Practiced sustainability is also economically attractive. Anyone who has not (yet) recognized this in today's world will no longer be competitive in the long term."
Through its commitment to wild bees, Hapimag makes a valuable contribution to the preservation of biodiversity while also offering a special holiday experience. Or as we would call it: a Perfect Match.
